Hobbs Heirloom® Premium Natural 100% Cotton Batting is designed for quilters who prefer using a natural cotton batting, and for those who want a traditional looking quilt with a fairly flat finish and exceptional softness (it gets softer with each washing!). Hobbs Heirloom® Premium Natural 100% Cotton Batting is a non-allergenic, natural cotton batting that’s made with the finest, clean, natural (unbleached), long-staple, virgin cotton available (and it proudly displays the Cotton Incorporated Seal). Hobbs Heirloom Cotton Batting should be paired with medium or dark fabrics – if paired with with white or light-colored fabrics, natural (unbleached) cotton can slightly darken the fabrics. We recommend quilters test this batting with their chosen fabric(s) to see if ‘darkening’ will be an issue – and if it will be, we recommend using Hobbs Heirloom® Premium Bleached 100% Cotton Batting as an alternative. This batting may be stitched up to 4″ apart, and it is machine washable (once inside a quilt), with shrinkage of 3-5% expected. Hobbs Heirloom® Bleached 100% Cotton Batting is created specifically for use in quilts made with white or light-colored fabrics. Hobbs Heirloom® Bleached 100% Cotton Batting is very similar to Hobbs Heirloom® 100% Natural Cotton Batting, but it’s distinguished by the crisp, white color which won’t ‘shadow’ through a white or light-colored quilt top or bottom. Hobbs Heirloom® Bleached 100% Cotton Batting is a soft, thin, low-loft batting, made with the finest clean, bleached, long-staple virgin cotton available (and proudly displays the Cotton Incorporated Seal) – it resists bunching and shifting and is well-loved by those seeking to keep their white or light-colored quilts nice and bright. This batting may be stitched up to 4″ apart, and it is machine washable (once inside a quilt), with the batting becoming softer and softer after each washing, and shrinkage of 3-5% expected. Hobbs Heirloom® Premium 100% Natural Cotton with Scrim Batting is designed for quilters who enjoy using natural cotton batting and who are seeking extra strength in that batting. Strong, but also soft (and softer after each washing), Hobbs Heirloom® Premium 100% Natural Cotton with Scrim Batting is perfect for quilts where a low loft is desired.
